To me the professional standards for BC educators serves a similar purpose to the BC curriculum, it is there to give some structure to teachers in how they should be teaching, what standards they should be utilizing as guidelines to their teaching practice and some idea of what/what not to do in the school environment.
At the same time like the BC curriculum they aren’t too rigid and give some freedom to teachers in how they go about interpreting these values to suit the changing times and their classroom culture from year to year.
